Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen

What can I tell you, I’m a huge fan of Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen.

Jimmy was Superman’s pal, his best friend and confidant. Superman liked Jimmy so much that he gave him this cool watch with an emergency signal device in it.

And not only that, but all sorts of things were cool about Jimmy.

Jimmy worked for a major newspaper and had a great boss.

Plus even though it was a little gross to see all that kissing, Jimmy’s girlfriend Lucy Lane….

… was way hotter then that old frump big sister of hers in the pillbox hat, Lois.

And that was just the dull stuff!
Jimmy was a member of the Legion of Superheroes.

Jimmy not only had a partnership going on with Robin the Boy Wonder, complete with secret headquarters, but Jimmy actually knew the secret identity of Batman himself.

And let’s not forget that Jimmy even had two different heroic identities.

Sure most of us remember Elastic Lad….

…. but how many people remember Jimmy as the "Boy Wonder of Kandor", Flamebird?

I didn’t buy all that many monthly issues of Jimmy before Kirby came along, but that was because I was a huge fan of those great looking 80-Page Giants. You could easily pack 8 or 9 great Olsen tales into one of those, and because they all would have a specific theme like "Jimmy’s Job’s" or "Weird Olsens", you’d have a kind of continuity as you went along.

Now I was a huge fan of the "Kirby" Olsen, but even though I love the Whizwagon better then any other comicbook car ever, I’m still a bigger fan of the Weisenger Jimmy.

It’s the grand goofiness I guess.

Besides, Jimmy always looked good in a dress.

So let's hear it for one of the best of the Silver Age, Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen
