Christina Silva Sues Miss California USA Pageant

Its official . After getting humiliated in Miss USA Pageant in 2007 in November 2007 when Christina Silva she was stripped off her title which authorities cite error in tabulation of votes.Silva has finally decided to file a lawsuit against the pageant.

Christina Silva has finally decided to file suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging negligence, fraudulent concealment and misrepresentation, false advertising and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

“They never could explain their accounting error, but told me that if I didn’t give up my crown to Miss Barstow, my personal integrity could be questioned, and my career could potentially suffer,” said Christina Silva after feeling pressure to step down.

Silva, 24, was named Miss California USA on November 25. Three days later, the pageant's executive director, Keith Lewis, told Silva there had been a mistake in tabulation and she was not the winner.

Raquel Beezley, 21, was subsequently crowned. Beezley was named Miss Barstow prior to the Miss California USA pageant.

Silva, who is of Ecuadorian and Mexican descent, filed a lawsuit with Superior Court, claiming that she was replaced because she looked too ethnic and that Lewis did not like Silva's bilingualism.

Silva alleges that Lewis, the pageant, its producer K2 Productions and the Miss Universe Organization engaged in fraud, negligence, breach of contract and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Ironically, Beezley, a resident of Barstow, CA, is 25 percent Filipino and the previous two winners were African-American.

The Miss USA 2008 Pageant will air Friday night at 9pm on NBC.
