Cate Blanchett gives birth to her third son

Cate Blanchett and her husband, writer and director Andrew Upton were proud parents once again on Sunday when Cate gave birth to their third son at a hospital in Sydney.

Blanchett had officially confirmed she was pregnant last November. There were rumors at that time of the baby being a boy, and when asked about this by the media, she had said, “You know more than me it seems. For a change it seems that the media was right this around.

Blanchett came to international attention in the 1998 film Elizabeth, directed by Shekhar Kapur, in which she played Elizabeth I of England. She is also well known for her portrayals of the elf queen Galadriel in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator, a role which brought her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She is currently the artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company.

Blanchett's husband is playwright and screenwriter Andrew Upton, whom she met in 1996 while she was performing in a production of The Seagull. It was not love at first sight, however; "He thought I was aloof and I thought he was arrogant", Blanchett later remarked. "It just shows you how wrong you can be, but once he kissed me that was that." The two were married on December 29, 1997.

Kate Blancett settled in Australia, already have two sons – six-year old Dashiell John and three-year old Roman Robert. The new bundle of joy to their family would be named Ignatius Martin, sources said.
